On Sunday 11 October 2026, the Bondi Icebergs came together for the Presentation and Awards Day. It’s a joyful tradition that marks the close of another winter swimming season at Bondi’s famous ocean pool, and this year it was one to remember.
A season to remember
The Icebergs have been swimming through Sydney’s cooler months since 1929, and the club’s traditions are as strong as ever. Becoming an Iceberg is earned, not given: swimmers must front up for at least three Sundays out of every four through the winter season, for five years.
This season began on Sunday 3 May, when more than 110 new members were welcomed into the club. Now that the last Sunday swims are done, Awards Day is the moment to celebrate everyone who turned up week after week, whatever the weather and whatever the swell. It’s a morning of applause, catch-ups on the pool deck and plenty of well-earned pride.
A golden moment for Peter
This year the day was extra special for our family. Peter received his medal for 1st Place in the 2026 Bondi Icebergs Men’s Over 70 50m Age Championship.
The front of the medal carries the Bondi Icebergs Club crest, and the engraving on the back says it all: "2026 Bondi Icebergs Mens Over 70 50m Age Championship, 1st Place". It’s a lovely reward for a winter of early starts and bracing water, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Family, club and community
Peter Anderson Real Estate is proud to sponsor the Bondi Icebergs, and for us the connection has always been personal. Peter’s son Joseph joined the club in 2025, so there are now two Andersons heading down to the pool on Sunday mornings.
What makes the Icebergs special isn’t just the swimming. It’s the people: the members, volunteers and supporters who keep this much-loved club going season after season.
A heartfelt thank you to the Bondi Icebergs club and to every member for another wonderful season, and congratulations to all of this year’s award winners. Enjoy the summer, and we’ll see you back on the pool deck when the new winter season begins next May.
